FSP Academy is launching a brand-new series highlighting the journeys of our academy graduates from their first days to their growth within and beyond. This week, Alishba, Brand and Comms Apprentice, interviewed Associate Support Developer, Christie Joseph to discuss his key highlights from being at FSP. Curious to know what it was? Check it out below!
- Alishba – ‘What is your role at FSP and have you been in this role since you started in the FSP Academy?’
Christie – ‘I’m currently an Associate Support Developer within the Managed Services capability at FSP, and this has been my role since I started in the Academy.’
- Alishba – ‘What made you choose FSP for your graduate role?’
Christie – ‘Right after my bachelor’s degree, while I was waiting to move to the UK for my master’s, I had a short stint at a company with a really toxic work culture. That experience made me realise how important it is to find a company with not just great culture and values but one that truly leads by example. That’s how I ended up at FSP.
PS: The Best Workplace Awards also helped!’
- Alishba – ‘Whilst you were in the Academy, what kind of support and guidance did you receive and how did this contribute to where you’re at now in your role?’
Christie – ‘The Academy support was fantastic. My mentor guided me through projects, helped me grow as a developer, and supported me beyond work. This guidance helped me hit the ground running in my role. Plus, the Academy team connected me with people across FSP, giving me a great overview of all the sub-capabilities!’
- Alishba – ‘How has the Academy contributed to your overall career growth and success?’
Christie – ‘The Academy set me up with a solid foundation of professional skills like growth mindset, time management and teamwork, while the mentoring sessions helped me develop technically. Those early experiences gave me the confidence to take on more responsibilities and build strong relationships within the team.’
- Alishba – ‘Can you tell us about a key highlight from your time at FSP so far?’
Christie – ‘A recent highlight for me was moving from a grad who just shadowed small changes for the client to actually leading and working on their annual updates. It felt great to take on more responsibility, deliver quality work, and keep good communication with stakeholders. Plus, getting recognised by the team gave me a big confidence boost!’
- Alishba – ‘What advice would you give to both current and new Academy members for maximising their experience?’
Christie – ‘Get involved as much as you can – attend training sessions, ask loads of questions, and connect with your mentors and peers across various capabilities. The more you put in, the more you’ll get out of it. And don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone – that’s where the real growth happens!’
